Summary

The Children's Center at Southwoods Childcare Center in Boardman is now hiring childcare staff members! We are currently seeking fun, energetic staff members who are great with children! If you are looking to work in a fun, play-based education center with lots of perks, apply today! We are hiring for a lead teacher in our preschool (3-3.5 year old) classroom! CPR, First Aid, Recognizing Child Abuse, and Communicable Disease certifications will be provided if not current. Starting pay based on experience and education.

Duties

Lead teachers support the classroom by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and creating activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Lead teachers must create activity plans in alignmnet with The Creative Curriculum, ensuring a quality educational program and developing positive relationships with the children and their parents. The Lead Teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and support staff. Lead teachers are responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Director. Lead teachers are responsible for assessing the classroom environment, the students, and their progress, ensuring that activities are both developmentally appropriate and beneficial, as well as interesting to the students.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must pass BCI and FBI criminal record checks
• Experience with group care and/or education in Early Childhood Development is required
• Certification in early childcare or a degree in childhood development preferred
• Must have flexible availability, and be available Monday through Friday 7am through 4pm
• Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, and standing
• Must be able to lift children weighing up to 30 lbs regularly
• Must have reliable transportation
• Certification in early childcare or a degree in childhood development preferred

Nice To Haves

• Experience with The Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold, and ASQ are nice to have, but training will be provided
• CDA or a degree in Child Development preferred
• CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse certifications preferred but can be provided
