Educational Technology Consulting Teacher
Supervised by: Educational Technology Customer Service Coordinator and Director of Educational Technology
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goals:
- To ensure an outstanding level of customer services by providing direct educational technology support to students, faculty and staff of the Baldwin County School System and by providing consultative support to local school and district level technology resource staff.
- To collaborate with and assist technology resource staff in proactive planning and instructional technology support service.
- To plan and provide professional development programs and support that is effective in meeting the changing needs of the Baldwin County School System and its technology and instructional initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Master's degree or above preferred).
- Valid Alabama professional educator certificate.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Minimum three years successful classroom teaching experience.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively lead and implement simultaneous projects and initiatives while meeting multiple deadlines.
- High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex technical concepts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to stoop, bend, and lift/move equipment when necessary.
- Knowledge of instructional/educational technology and ability to plan and implement technology-related professional development programs for school personnel.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
- Ability to plan work, schedule tasks, oversee projects, and supervise and evaluate the work of others as assigned.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Advocates, supports, promotes, and communicates all aspects of the Baldwin County School System technology programs, services and initiatives.
- Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service, effective response times and provide expert insights into general support issues. Enforces quality of service guidelines for dealing with customers, completing services, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Communicates and collaborates with each school's technology staff or technical representative in defining and establishing schedules, setting priorities, providing support/direction and dealing with administrative issues as needed.
- Communicates and collaborates with each school's technology staff in development of curricula to enhance the student educational process.
- Gathers and analyzes metrics to benchmark the helpdesk workload/performance and identify trends in helpdesk and technical issues.
- Trains technology staff and helpdesk staff on operational procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
- Plans and provides training and professional development on new hardware and/or software applications as requested.
- Communicates and collaborates with technology staff and technology support technicians to ensure timely and considerate customer service to faculty, staff, and students by fielding helpdesk and work order requests and resolving technical issues.
- Creates user accounts and manages access control based on Baldwin County Board of Education and Educational Technology Department procedures and guidelines as assigned.
- Assists in managing technology inventory and asset management records.
- Ensures that technology staff or technical representative resolves all hardware problems, computer upgrades, networking setup/diagnoses, software problems, operating system issues/troubleshooting.
- Engages in professional growth, ongoing training, and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership.
- Models and maintains high ethical standards.
- Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
- Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
- Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: Ten or twelve-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Baldwin County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
