Under the direction of the Childcare Coordinator, design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that focus on developing the child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. Monitor the progress of each child and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure their development is on track. Foster an environment of creativity, curiosity, and self-discovery, encouraging children to explore and learn at their own pace.


In addition to teaching, the job includes creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, serving as a role model, and promoting positive behavior. Will need to communicate with parents, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns. Must have strong communication skills, patience, creativity, and a passion for early childhood education.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:


  1. Responsible for the safety and operation of the childcare area of the Fitness Center
  2. Greet parents as they come in to drop off their children
  3. Ensure that proper check-in/check-out procedures are followed
  4. Register new children and ensure that all paperwork is filled out and given to the proper personnel
  5. Orient parents in regard to policies and procedures that must be followed
  6. Attentively watch and attend to the children in the childcare area
  7. Monitor the progress of each child and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  8. Discipline children, when necessary, using appropriate and authorized disciplinary techniques
  9. Ensure the cleanliness of the children and the childcare area by helping children go to the bathroom, washing hands, cleaning spills, picking up trash, putting away & washing toys, vacuum each shift, etc.
  10. Treat children if hurt and fill out accident reports



  1. Responsible for maintaining the professional atmosphere of the Fitness Center
  2. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be dressed in proper uniform
  3. Handle patron complaints and/or comments or refer them to the proper personnel
  4. Maintain positive public relations for the Facility
  5. Give excellent customer service to the patrons and their children
  6. Help keep the Fitness Center clean and uncluttered
  7. Set a positive example for other employees to follow


  1. Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees and management
  2. Attend all staff meetings
  3. Provide input for childcare area planning and discuss problems and concerns with appropriate personnel


4. Other duties as assigned such as but not limited to:

  • a. Assist with the Fire, Water, and Ice Festival



QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Qualifications:


  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Must submit to a criminal background check
  3. Excellent public relations skills
  4. Ability to relate well with children and be patient with them
  5. Able to work under stressful conditions
  6. Willingness to assist others
  7. If required to be certified in CPR/AED and/or First Aid will receive within 60 days. (certification will be paid for by the District)
  8. Ability to hold all matters related to staff and patrons as confidential and to discuss related matters with only the appropriate individuals.


Desired Qualifications:


  1. Previous childcare experience
  2. Educational background in childhood development or related field



WORKING CONDITIONS:


  1. Willing and available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts
  2. Moderate to intense physical activity such as pushing, pulling, and lifting
  3. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, bending, and sitting on the floor with the children.
  4. Work both inside and outside
  5. Exposure to intermittent periods of stress
