Do you love working with kids? Are you a reliable, adaptable caretaker committed to making an impact in the lives of children? Balanced Family Academy of New Albany is hiring teachers for multiple age groups from 6 weeks (infant) to 6 years (pre-K).


Under the supervision of BFA New Albany's Administrative Staff, each teacher is responsible for creating an environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of the children in their assigned classes. She/he must be passionate, compassionate and empathetic in all activities and interactions relating to the children and their parents. The teacher should serve as a collaborative team member in developing creative lesson plans and activities, and implementing them in their classrooms in a manner consistent with BFA's Circle of Care core values. The teacher must work in cooperation with their co-teachers, the Administrative Staff, the Owners, parents and children, and any other third-parties who provide activities and care to the children.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate reliability by consistently arriving on-time and completing all scheduled shifts. All staff members must be able to commit to strict adherence with an attendance policy that requires timely arrival and completion of assigned shifts in order to keep our center compliant with state-mandated minimum teacher ratios.
  • Display professionalism in attire, communication, and interactions with all children, families, and coworkers.
  • Supervise all classroom and daily routine activities, and actively engage with the children in your care to ensure their needs are met and their growth is supported.
  • Be patient and adaptable in responding to the daily needs of the children in your care and their shifting needs over time as the grow within your assigned age group.
  • Assist co-teachers in all daily preparation work and clean-up of rooms, supplies, and dishes.
  • Coordinate with the Administrative Staff by submitting supply requests in a timely manner and escalating important matters to Administrative Staff's attention as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with parents, staff members, administrators, and children.
  • Establish a nurturing relationship with children in addition to serving as a positive role model.
  • Treat children in a positive and empathetic manner that encourages individuality and positive self-esteem.
  • Complete designated housekeeping duties to keep the classroom environment clean and orderly throughout the day, including tasks that can be performed during child rest periods.
  • Complete other duties as required/requested.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to work 8-hour shift with a one-hour lunch break, Monday through Friday. Preference is currently being given to closing shifts (9am-6pm w/ one hour break)
  • Must have at least one year of experience working in a child care center or group care setting
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Must have access to daily, reliable transportation and be able to comply with a strict attendance policy designed to ensure we meet our state regulatory obligation to maintain required teacher-to-student ratios
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs, pass a state-required medical assessment, and meet the demands of active engagement with children for entire 8-hour shifts
