Summary

Almond Tree is a small, vibrant early childhood program nestled in the heart of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. We provide a joyful, nurturing space where children ages 2 to 5 are encouraged to grow through play, exploration, and meaningful learning experiences. As part of our Team, you'll help create a safe, warm supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe, seen and heard, and where their development is supported across all key domains.

Duties

Key Responsibilities
You will work collaboratively with Team Members to:
  • Supervise and actively engage children throughout the day with warmth, attentiveness, and care
  • Maintain a gentle, curious, and respectful approach to children and families
  • Build nurturing, responsive relationships with children to support their social and emotional growth.
  • Support children’s daily routines including arrival, meals/snacks, rest, diapering/toileting, handwashing, and transitions
  • Prepare materials and maintain an organized, inviting classroom environment
  • Plan and implement activities that reflect children’s interests and developmental stages
  • Observe and document children's progress to inform instruction and communicate with families
  • Foster positive partnerships with families through regular communication and family engagement.
  • Take children on outdoor activities, including neighborhood walks and visits to the park
  • Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional standards
  • Clean and sanitize classroom spaces regularly
  • Support parent-teacher conferences and engage with families in meaningful ways
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
  • Support licensing, inspection and official visits
  • Perform recordkeeping activities ie attendance, incident reports, observations
  • Perform other duties as needed in a collaborative team setting


Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Have a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or currently in school for one
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a child care setting
  • Successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting through the NYC Department of Health
  • Complete 10 hours of Health and Safety Training on the ECETP website (will provide additional information about this)
  • Must have Pediatric CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain before the start date)
  • Three references- 2 professional (from a child-related role and 1 personal (at least one from a child-related role)
  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, crouch, kneel, balance, sit on floor, stand and walk for extended periods, and engage in active play indoors and outdoors
  • Strong positive attitude, communication, reliability, and teamwork skills


Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with platforms like Brightwheel, ClassDojo, and Teaching Strategies is a plus
