Qualifications:
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and/or ELS(TBE)
Bilingual AND ELL Endorsements
Fluent in Guajarati/Hindi
Strong ability to work on a team
Experience working with ELL students and families preferred
Strong communication and advocacy skills preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to problem solve
Highly organized and dedicated
Preferred: Training and experience with ACCESS administration
Experience with MTSS for ELLs
Experience or interest with co-teaching or push-in models
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Effectively teach the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
Instruct students in citizenship, respect for others, safety, and basic subject matter specified in Illinois School Code.
Develop lesson plans and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of each student.
Create an effective environment for learning, efficiently utilizing the available time for instruction.
Use formative assessments to evaluate student's academic and social growth in order to readjust instruction and procedures to insure learning.
Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
Provide learning experiences designed to meet student needs through individual and/or group instruction.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom by providing a safe and secure environment for all school activities.
Create and maintain an active and responsive climate for learning through positive teacher-student rapport and consistent and positive classroom management.
Establish a good relationship through participation in faculty committees and meetings.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Work cooperatively with administrators, consultants, community members and colleagues and be responsible for presenting a positive teacher image to community.
Maintains confidentiality concerning information about students and their families.
Maintains a professional teacher/student relationship.
Communicates directly in professional relationships to positively benefit all concerned individuals & groups within the District.
Work with supervisors to develop and maintain a program of safe conditions and practices for the welfare of the students, faculty, employees, volunteers, visitors, and other invitees.
Coordinate testing and placement for ELL students.
Coordinate the administration of required language proficiency and academic achievement tests; ongoing monitoring of student progress and determining when student is to be exited from the program.
Compile and maintain a profile summary (record of achievement and progress) for each student.
Gather and report data for annual ISBE and other required reports
Promote research-based pedagogical practices among program staff.
Communicate with parents through a variety of means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
Design and conduct academic support programs for students as they transition to the mainstream. Evaluate student academic and social growth, readjusting the teacher procedures to stimulate continuous progress.
Articulate with administration and staff on behalf of ELL students.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Assumes other responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the District Evaluation Plan.
Term:
Position is full time, 7 hours/day, 180 days per school year
