Summary

The Assistant Teacher assists the teacher in all aspects of the program using principles of developmentally appropriate practice. The Assistant will be able to communicate age-appropriately with children and effectively with adults. The Assistant will be knowledgeable of all CPECC policies and procedures and shall cooperate with the staff and director in supporting the mission and goals of the school. The Assistant Teacher reports to the Lead Teacher.

Duties

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the daily program.
• Assist in the supervision of children.
• Supervise activities as directed by the teacher for the individuals, small groups, and the whole class.
• Assist in maintaining the room, supplies, and equipment in a clean, organized environment.
• Attend staff meetings and training to meet OCFS requirements.
• Provide for smooth daily operation of the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
• Maintain open communication with the teacher regarding developmentally appropriate practice.
• Cooperate with Director/Assistant Director to support the mission and the goals of the school.
• Assist in the daily attendance and all other records for each child.
• Demonstrate professionalism and maintain confidentiality in all program matters.
• Assume classroom responsibility and care of children in the absence of the teacher.
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned or approved by the Teacher, Assistant Director, or the Director.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Experience in formal childcare desirable.
• Must complete Medication Administration Certification to provide meds as needed.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to pass OCFS child abuse clearances as required.
