Assistant Teacher I (K-8/Lower/Middle Fairmount Campus) at Kennedy Krieger Institute summary: The Assistant Teacher I supports special education teachers in implementing individualized instruction and behavioral plans for K-8 students with diverse needs. They assist with classroom management, technology integration, and participation in training and extracurricular activities to enhance student experiences. Overview: The Assistant Teacher I will support the teachers who serve a varied population of students in the Kennedy Krieger Schools. The incumbent assists with the implementation of the program as outlined in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of each student and with adapting instruction that meets the individual academic, medical, developmental, and technological needs of the students. Responsibilities: Assist with the implementation of instruction in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), in cooperation with the Special Education Teacher and using effective strategies for academic and behavioral success. Complete instructional-related duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher and administrators. Provide instruction, oversight, and classroom management under the direction of the Special Education Teacher. Implement behavioral protocols and assignments for students during instructional and non-instructional times. Utilize instructional and non-instructional times in a professional manner in keeping with administrative guidelines. Participate in and contribute to in-service training and staff meetings. Provide support and leadership for curricular and extra-curricular activities that support student-life and promote a positive school experience. Assist with the implementation of technology in instructional design and delivery in accordance with supervising teacher's directions. Assist with the implementation of instruction in relation to Maryland Core Learning Goals, Skills for Success, Content Standards, and specific Industry Standards. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training will be provided by the department. The employee must achieve and maintain certification according to the timeline established by the department. May be required to achieve, possess, and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aide certification. The department will provide a limited amount of certification opportunities and employee may obtain and provide documented evidence of required certification from an external provider.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in education, special education, or related area preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working in a classroom of students with disabilities is preferred. Minimum pay range: USD $17.85/Hr. Maximum pay range: USD $28.94/Hr.
