Summary

Duties

  • Help maintain clean and orderly facilities
  • Set up and clean up meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
  • Assist teachers to implement rich hands-on learning experiences for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play designed to promote social, emotional, communicative, creative, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Show love and respect to every child in the program, giving individual attention whenever possible.
  • Attend to children's basic needs including changing diapers and assisting in the bathroom.
  • Encourage positive behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
  • Establish a relationship with parents and guardians.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Model proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor play to facilitate creative play and safety.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed Intro to the Childcare Profession Skills and Strategies
  • Level 4 or above on the Registry (can be completed after beginning employment)
  • Be physically able to work with children


Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in early childhood education
