*Wake Preparatory Academy* is now accepting applications for an *American Sign Language Teacher (Part-Time)* for the *2025-2026* school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
*Responsibilities include but are not limited to: *
* Design and prepare engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and address the learning needs of students at various proficiency levels.
* Deliver daily lessons in ASL, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and translation skills.
* Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress, providing timely feedback to help students improve.
* Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, promoting student engagement and encouraging participation in discussions and activities.
* Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, providing additional support or enrichment opportunities as needed.
* Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams, and maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
* Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress, upcoming assignments, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues in the foreign language department and other subject areas to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and enhance teaching skills.
* Organize and participate in activities or events that promote the study of ASL and deaf culture, such as ASL Club meetings, competitions, or cultural celebrations.
* Provide academic and emotional support to students, helping them navigate challenges related to language learning and fostering a love for ASL.
* Other duties as assigned.

*Required Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s degree
* Pass applicable background check
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Education, Deaf Studies, American Sign Language or related field
* North Carolina Teaching Certificate
* Experience teaching ASL
