Minimum 1+ years Adaptive PE Teacher experience required. Responsibilities include:
Conducting motor skill and fitness assessments to identify individual student needs.
Designing and implementing IEP-aligned adaptive physical education curricula and lesson plans.
Delivering adaptive instruction in settings such as gymnasiums, playgrounds, and classrooms.
Collaborating with general physical education teachers to support inclusive programming.
Consulting with classroom teachers, special education staff, therapists, and families to coordinate goals and monitor student progress.
Maintaining accurate records including assessments, progress reports, and IEP compliance documentation.
Using adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and modifications to facilitate accessibility.
Promoting physical fitness, social engagement, and positive self-esteem among students.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Adapted Physical Education, Physical Education, Special Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Physical Education and APE authorization or endorsement; alternatively, a Physical Education PEL with APE approval.
Experience working with students who have diverse physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities in a K12 educational setting.
