District: Engadine Consolidated Schools Consolidated Community School Services is seeking a teacher for our alternative education program in Newberry, Michigan.
TITLE: Alternative Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: CCSS Newberry Coordinator, CCSS Director
JOB FUNCTION: The teacher shall serve as the educational leader in the classroom.
ABOUT CONSOLIDATED COMMUNITY SCHOOL SERVICES: Consolidated Community School Services serves a consortium of ten school districts across the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Engadine Consolidated Schools is our Fiscal Agent. We operate alternative education programs, adult education programs, preschools, a testing center and community education programs spread out over the three counties of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. The class sizes in our alternative education programs generally range from 15 to 30 students and the Newberry program has a full time Special Education teacher/aide in the classroom in addition to the classroom teacher. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The school uses internet based software to provide the educational content for the classes. The teacher will facilitate the use of the software for in-person and online delivery. Use relevant technology to support instruction. Establish a classroom structure that values positive relationships. Support non-academic needs through special education, and other services. Provide appropriate/timely/feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Maintain accurate and complete records Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare classroom for class activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development. Assign and grade class work, tests and assignments. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or higher
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one within the required time frame
Preferred: Previous teaching experience
