Aliamanu Elementary School first opened in 1957 in an old building that was once Pearl Harbor Intermediate School. There was only one class in each grade level from kindergarten to grade 6. The following year, Aliamanu Elementary School was relocated to its present site on Salt Lake Boulevard. The Aliamanu area is considered part of the larger Radford Complex that includes the Salt Lake subdivision and Foster Village. The community is a diverse population of military families, middle income apartment condominium dwellers, and low income rental units. The population of the school community includes both local and military families. Aliamanu Elementary services military families from Moanalua Terrace, Maloelap, Halsey Terrace and Doris Miller Park. Vision Statement The vision of Aliamanu Elementary School is to educate all students toward college and career readiness, so they may reach their full potential as responsible, literate, critical thinkers, and contributing members of our digital and global society. Mission Statement The mission of Aliamanu Elementary School is to equip our students with 21st century skills by providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum, using technology-enhanced instruction in a caring environment that promotes a growth mindset. The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
