Our District:

The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,000 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.

Our Community:

Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our "backyard" is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains. Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar. Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

Sultan School District is seeking applicants for an ALE teaching position. We are looking for a teacher who is devoted to students and committed to a continuing program of personal and professional growth. The successful candidate will work with a dedicated staff committed to meeting the needs of all students in a team management and shared decision-making environment.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

This is position is for a teacher that is endorsed in Science and Math and is interested in work in an Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) program with high school students. The teacher will work with individuals, small groups, and whole class instruction to help students meet the graduation credits and requirements set by the state of Washington and Sultan School District. The teacher will document student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through professional learning communities (PLC), in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities.

Provide opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning.
Provide students with opportunities to become technologically competent.

Ability to demonstrate a knowledge in and application of instructional strategies, cooperative learning, 5D's Instructional Framework, study skills, team teaching, SBA exam.
Experience/training/ integrating special needs students in the regular classroom.
Experience working with bilingual students.
Experience involving home and community in the school setting.
Training/experience integrating technology into the curriculum.
Ability to maintain proper attendance by arriving to work on time on a daily basis.
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate curriculum.
Ability to assess student learning in a variety of ways.
Evidence of leadership, positive human relations and organizational skills.
Be informed, well read on updated research regarding Education Reform.
Demonstrated interest, commitment, and ability to work with students in an alternative high school setting.
CTE endorsement preferred
Knowledge of Project Based Learning (PBL)
Successful experience as an alternative high school teacher.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, FORMAL TRAINING:

Current Washington State Education Certificate with endorsements in math or science or the ability and willingness to become conditionally certificated by September 1, 2025.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with standards for potential student learning in areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Personal Finance
Current First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
