Open Until Filled Bloomfield Public School District is accepting applications from qualified local candidates for the Agricultural Science(Vo-Ag) Teacher position at Bloomfield High School. This position should remain open until filled.
Work Year : 10-month position - 186 days
Work Day : 7.25 hours per day/ 36.25 hours per week
Hourly Wage : Per BEA Teachers Agreement
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide instruction to high school students preparing for employment in agricultural science careers or further education in these areas.
Aid in the development of a year-round calendar of activities that is approved by local school administrators. The calendar should include: SAE visits and FFA activities that relate to the instructional program, professional development opportunities, agribusiness visits, etc.
Develops and produces lesson plans on natural resource and plant science according to the approved AFNR, Common Core and NGSS education standards on the subject matter.
Continually evaluate and improve educational programming being offered to ensure effective delivery to youth and adults. Instructor will serve as Advisor to FFA Chapter, along with other instructors at the Agriculture Center, and will provide instruction and supervision for preparation of FFA Activities.
Supervision and on the job training to high school students who must carry on a Supervised Agricultural Experience Program is required. On-site visits and evaluations of the SAE program are required.
Instructor will be required to attend professional meetings as well as attend agricultural science teachers' meetings and conferences related to curriculum areas and keep informed of changes and needs of the industry.
Instructor will be required to attend Agricultural Science teachers' meetings and conferences, as directed, join National and State Agriculture Educators' Connecticut Association of Agriculture Educators (CAAE) associations as well as local education associations.
Qualifications: 040 -AGRICULTURE, PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 12 Certification, General Science Endorsement Should have experience through employment in the area of Plant and Natural Resources or related agricultural occupations.
Required to meet with and establish good relationships with those involved in the agriculture community.
Knowledgeable in planning and development of curriculum materials based on needs of students and agriculture community, and possess satisfactory skills in instructional methods.
Be available for Extended day and summer Center based programming.
The applicant should be able to work as a team with other instructors in the Agricultural Science Center.
