Enrichment Coordinator Summary The Enrichment Coordinator will lead the teaching team in curriculum planning and development, ensuring that a wide range of activities are planned in the areas of STEAM, SEL, and active gross motor activities. The Enrichment Coordinator is also responsible for developing themes and curriculum for Chapman Elementary School in-service days, conference days, early dismissals, and break camps.
Teacher Summary This position will plan and implement safe, developmentally appropriate activities with the responsibility of managing their group of children in collaboration with other program staff. The After School Teacher will ensure the enrichment, social development, health, and safety of children in the After School Program. This job is performed in classrooms at Friendly House, Chapman Elementary School, Wallace Park, occasional field trips off site, and the two-block walking route between Friendly House and the park. One of our buildings is non-ADA-compliant. This position will adhere to all childcare regulations. This is a 35-hour per week position.
Enrichment Coordinator Essential Functions Under the direction of and with support from the Children’s Program Director, guide the staff in best practice for development and implementation of curriculum, activities, and classroom environment through a PBIS lens. Assist the Children’s Program Director with short- and long-term program planning. Develop partnerships for recreational and educational experiences for school-age programs. Contact local businesses and individuals to confirm field trips and partnerships. Create a field trip plan, complete with transportation, expenditures, and scheduling for each session. Plan themes and schedule for Chapman in-service days, conference days, and early dismissals, and break camps. Plan special activities, field trips, guest educators, and visitors for the school-aged programs. Lead curriculum planning meetings with the Afterschool teachers. Develop a system to ensure that children’s subjects of interest are incorporated into the curriculum. Maintain program documents and files using MS Office 365. Ensure accurate tracking of all documents (registration forms, permissions slips, other documents). Communicate positively and professionally with children, families, and staff at all times. Support Friendly House’s mission and values in fulfilling its community building missions through interactions with students, families, staff, and the community. Model organizational values, promote, and support other Friendly House programs through an agency-wide lens. Be an ambassador for the Children’s Programs and Friendly House. Other duties as needed for the success of the program.
Teacher Essential Functions Develop and sustain classroom systems that promote a climate for healthy, culturally responsive child development, positive behavior, and accountability. Attend all required agency and program meetings. With the support of the program director and coordinators, develop, post, and follow a written daily schedule for each group of children, according to their ages, interests, and abilities. With the support of the program director and coordinators and with the assistance of the teaching team, plan and implement weekly classroom curriculum that includes a variety of culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities that represent all children, families, and staff. Lead daily large group activities. On-going, child-driven projects and/or periodic units are required. Present weekly curriculum to the School Age Enrichment Coordinator by the assigned due date. With the support of the teaching team, provide a variety of play equipment materials that are appropriate to the developmental needs, interests, and abilities of the children. Ensure that indoor and outdoor classroom spaces and storage areas are kept hazard free, clean, and organized. Routinely clean, sanitize, and disinfect surfaces and materials that are frequently touched. Prepare the indoor and outdoor classroom environment for each day, including collecting materials, lifting, and moving chairs and tables as needed. Under the direction of the Children’s Program Director and Site Coordinator, help establish and maintain communication with families through daily contact. Check and respond to email and voicemail in a timely fashion. Track essential information involving the day-to-day operations and programming of the After School program as directed by the Children's Program Director and Site Coordinator. Immediately notify the Children’s Program Director and Site Coordinator of any incidents, accidents, or other health and safety hazards as per the Children’s Programs procedures and policies. Other duties as needed for the success of the program. Demonstrate, model, and individualize the care and learning opportunities to meet each child’s needs based upon the child’s age, needs, and abilities; including reviewing the information provided by families while respecting confidentiality. Follow policies and procedures to identify each child for whom they are responsible, and relate to them with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience. Constantly maintain appropriate staff to student ratios for a group of up to 15 children independently; share responsibility for groups of up to 30 children with an additional qualified teacher; share responsibility for groups of up to 100 children with the After School teaching team during whole group outdoor activities. Delegate and provide support to classroom assistants and volunteers as appropriate. Use and model appropriate, positive language and emotional skills for children. Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation in accordance with Oregon law, using the Friendly House child abuse and reporting form. Have and maintain the required training and experience for the After School Teacher position, including meeting the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care’s (15 hours per year) requirements. Training hours are to be completed by December 31st each year. Manage training hours, submit all training certificates of completion to Director, HR manager, and Oregon Registry Online as completed. Commitment to consistent and regular attendance in accordance with FH personnel policies. The Afterschool team will work together to clean and reset all program space, a minimum of twice per year. Requirements: Competencies Enrichment Coordinator : Knowledge of best practices and developmentally appropriate activities for K-5th grade children. Knowledge and awareness of the strengths and challenges of diverse communities to ensure culturally responsive, respectful, and inclusive activities for all children. Ability to network and collaborate with outside partners to plan activities, field trips and special experiences for students. Strong communication skills, written and oral. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to think broadly and to consider the overall mission of Friendly House. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information as required.
Teacher : Demonstrated ability to comprehend and comply with the Oregon Rules for Certified Childcare Centers and/or school-based childcare. Demonstrated ability to recognize and act to correct hazards to physical safety, both indoors and outdoors, by actively and continuously supervising the assigned group of children, always keeping them within sight and sound. Show good judgement as evidenced by responsible behavior that ensures the children's health and safety. Ability to recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures. Ability to interact with all FH staff, volunteers, other adults, and children in a positive and respectful manner. Ability to adjust and be flexible when daily plans need to be altered due to unforeseen circumstances.

Physical Demands Regular attendance during scheduled work hours. Position requires the ability to routinely lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, run, and sit on the floor with children. Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and/or pulling. Requires the ability to move or traverse about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, center activities.
