Director Date: 4/29/2025 POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for teaching Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED, and GED courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting. Plan lessons and curriculum based on the needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students, which prepare students to pass the GED tests and/or enhance basic education skills for workforce preparation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons that help students make learning gains.
- Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, including group or individualized instruction, in-person, hybrid classes and remote delivery. and contextualized instruction
- Administer student assessments using designated pre- and post-testing materials.
- Collaborate with students to establish goals, develop a learning plan, and monitor progress. The teacher will help students complete registration and provide proper assessment to determine best lessons.
- Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning across a range of student ages and ability levels.
- Assist with student retention by contacting students who have not attended classes recently, either by phone, email, or mail. The teacher will document attendance and enter into database.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or higher. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Virginia Teaching license. Adult Education
endorsement preferred, but not required.
