MSAD 75 is seeking a Academic Support Teacher to join our vibrant educational community at Mt. Ararat High School . Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
J OB GOAL : The primary goal of this position is to organize and provide academic support to students, instructing students directly in organizational and academic skill development while also coordinating the needs of students for other services in the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide direct support to students with executive function, literacy and math needs, while working collaboratively with RTI teachers and organizing data systems to support the needs of all students. Organize and support the refinement of Response to Intervention (RTI) programs. Establish students and faculty relationships to support student success in academic support programming. Facilitate the ongoing development of a comprehensive system for collecting and maintaining data about student progress in math, literacy and behavior, overseeing the implementation and use of that system across the school. Provide direct support to students in need of academic support, especially in the areas of executive functioning, organizational skills and behavior. Partner with classroom teachers to ensure the effective implementation of Tier 1 RTI strategies in classrooms across the school. Collaborate with school administrators, department leaders, and math and literacy specialists to ensure the implementation of an effective schedule to allow access to RTI programming for all students. Oversee the implementation and use of online programs, when appropriate, to support the development of student skills in areas of deficit. Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, administration and special education staff to identify barriers to students' success and develop options to address barriers and provide alternate options. REQUIREMENTS: State of Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification Grades 6-12 (any subject) State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization. Experience working with high school age student populations. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to skillfully manage time and scheduling across diverse needs. Skilled in the use of technology and knowledge of information systems. Professional manner and collaboration skills.
