This position focuses on providing specialized instruction to Native/Indigenous populations, including Ojibwe and Lakota students, in grades K-8. The role involves managing a caseload of approximately 15-18 students, delivering tailored educational support to meet diverse learning needs. The contract runs for the academic school year with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students in grades K-8. Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to accommodate students unique learning requirements. Collaborate with families, school staff, and community members to support student success. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Foster a culturally responsive classroom environment that respects and incorporates Native/Indigenous cultures and traditions. Qualifications: Valid Minnesota Teaching License with Special Education or Academic Behavior Strategist endorsement. Minimum of 2 years recent teaching experience in special education. Experience working with Native/Indigenous student populations is highly valued. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Dedication to cultural sensitivity and inclusive education practices. Location: Position based in Minneapolis, MN serving Native/Indigenous students.
