Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 8:15 - 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 - 3:15 p.m.
Additional hours available in Early Childhood Education

$18/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the 4K Teacher, the 4K Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children. The assistant will work with the teacher to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the standards set forth by the West Bend School District and the Kettle Moraine YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Follows the DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
  2. Assists the teacher in implementing the policies set forth by the West Bend School District.
  3. Ensures the classroom is clean and orderly.
  4. Participates in meetings, professional development and events as directed.
  5. Participates in Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) for referred children as directed by the classroom teacher.
  6. Collaborates and works cooperatively with the classroom teacher and West Bend School District special education teachers and other YMCA partners.
  7. Problem solves issues, concerns, and incidents and reports to the teacher with possible solutions.
  8. Communicates with parents, keeps all interactions positive and is considerate to the feelings of children and parents.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum age of 18 years old.
  2. Associate Degree in Early Childhood preferred.
  3. Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
  4. Must complete and pass fingerprint check.
  5. Must complete a Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
  6. The ability to appropriately interact with children at their cognitive level.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. The ability to lift 40 lbs.
  2. The ability to participate in required physical activities with the children.
