Fremont School District 79 is seeking a 2nd-3rd Grade Special Education Teacher (Instructional Classroom) for the 2025-2026 school year.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Director of Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS: Illinois Professional Educator License; LBS1 Endorsement POSITION SUMMARY: The special education teacher provides a structured, individualized educational classroom environment to meet the needs of students identified as eligible for special education services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a homeroom teacher for students with identified needs. Plans and instructs students using District approved curriculum as appropriate based on student needs Supports student inclusion into general education settings Modifies and adapts lessons and curriculum, as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP goals Exhibits considerable knowledge of specific disabilities and specific strategies/interventions to use in the classroom Demonstrates accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and learning standards Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning Utilizes instructional management systems that maximize student learning Differentiates instruction and monitors student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships Seeks professional development opportunities as required by the State for license renewal Maintains professional work habits Prepares an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students at least annually Maintains accurate documentation adhering to the dates and timelines set forth by Federal and State governments, and Fremont School District 79 Collects continual data reflecting growth tied to the students' needs for support and/or the IEP goal Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services or the building principal.
