The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150+ elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. The Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago. As a teacher in a Catholic school, the Teacher acts as a representative of the Catholic Church to the students, both as a role model and through the various tasks, actions and other responsibilities assigned to the Teacher. The Teacher is a ministerial employee because of the Teacher's role as both a representative of the Church and as a communicator of the Church's message to the children entrusted to the Church's care.

The Teacher is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The Teacher agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Office of Catholic Schools as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of the local school. The Teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education. The Teacher is a representative of the Archbishop of Chicago, effectuating his ministry of Catholic education and the religious teachings and doctrine of the Catholic Church at the level of the local school.

St. Nicholas of Tolentine School serves a preschool through 8th grade student population of approximately 450 students in the West Lawn area of Chicago for 115 years. The school is part of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic School System and the Big Shoulders Fund Plus Schools Network. The student population is 95% Hispanic of which 74% are English Learners. 100% of the student population participates in the Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch program. St. Nicholas of Tolentine School has distinguished itself as an "All Are Welcome" School for diverse learners having created and implemented the necessary systems to serve students which varying learning needs, Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, ADHD, Spectrum Diagnosis, and language needs.

St. Nicholas of Tolentine School successfully served over 70 students with (IEPs) and over 330 students with an identified language need. This was achieved through an intentional focus on access and the creation of equitable schoolwide and classroom learning conditions. St. Nicholas of Tolentine School's vision, mission, and root beliefs focus on making Christ known, loved, and served through development of the whole child. Through Sacrament Preparation, 45 students received the Sacrament of Frist Reconciliation, 44 students received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, and 34 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is accomplished through the expertise and hard work of the 35-member faculty and staff with a combined teacher experience of over 200 years serving in education. The 20 classroom teachers with a student to teacher ratio of 23:1 help to create vibrant, peaceful, and safe learning environment. In addition, the 5 counselors, 6 aides, and 5 learning specialists, speech and ABA therapists supported the whole child growth and achievement. Recognizing that educating the whole child requires a school to provide learning experiences beyond the class, St. Nicholas of Tolentine School also has created many afterschool clubs, activities, and sports teams for the child to continue his or her development through fine arts, sports, and other groups such as campus ministry.

We had over 80 students participate in ballroom dance class in 6th, 7th, & 8th grade, 75 K-8 students were members of the Ballet Folkloric Dance Group, 65 students were members of our Middle School Choir, 65 students studied piano, and 45 students studied violin with 20 students in our school band. 198 students participated in our sports program which includes indoor and outdoor soccer, boys' and girls' volleyball, boys' and girls' basketball, and track. This year's most notable achievements include •a Well-Organized rating on the 5 Essentials Survey. The strongest metrics were Involved Families, Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, and ambitious Instruction. •96% Student Retention Rate. •85% Teacher Retention Rate. •145% Annual Typical Growth in Reading. •112% Annual Typical Growth in Math. •Polk Bros. Leadership Award. •3 Daniel Murphy Scholars from the St. Nick Class of 2025.

This position has a salary range of $37,000- 67,000 for a Lay employee and $34,000 - $61,000 for a religious employee. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
