Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic, innovative and passionate educator with strong leadership skills to serve in the probationary position of Elementary Music Teacher at Roaring Brook Elementary School beginning 8/28/25.
Note: applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Job Summary: The Elementary General Music Teacher provides music instruction to students in grades K-5 (or K-6), fostering musical skills, appreciation, and creativity through singing, movement, instrument playing, and music literacy. The teacher creates a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs and abilities of all students. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver general music lessons for K-4 in collaboration with music department philosophy that focuses on singing, movement, and classroom instrument playing (percussion/Orff instruments) Have basic accompaniment skills on an instrument for general music classes Teach introductory instruments (wind/strings) to 4th grade students that focuses on basic proficiency skills Facilitate and plan school-wide assemblies and grade-level performances for students and families Collaborate with music department and building colleagues Have a background in Kodaly, Orff,and/or Dalcroze Think creatively and incorporate innovative instructional techniques Communicate effectively with families, students, and greater school community Participate in professional development to enhance practice Create a classroom environment that is respectful, inclusive, and conducive to learning. Must hold NYS Music certificate Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (required) Valid NYS Music Certificate (K-12) Experience teaching elementary-aged children (preferred) Strong classroom management, communication skills and flexibility Ability to adapt lessons to meet a variety of learning needs
