Additionally, GLA scored in the top 20% of schools in the state in ELA growth and top 6% of schools in math growth.
We are proud of our growth and achievement, but we have our sights set even higher for the 2025-26 school year, and we need your help to reach our goals. We are seeking a high-capacity, humble, results-oriented Math Interventionist .
Job Overview A Great Lakes Academy Math Interventionist will be part of a team of talented, committed teachers working to change the face of education on the Southeast Side of Chicago. Our Math Interventionist will be responsible for planning and providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction across grades K-8 in math. The Math Interventionist will work with other math teachers and the Dean of Instruction for math and report to the Assistant Principal. The daily schedule for this position is 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-4pm on Friday.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and lead small-group and individualized instruction, both during the school day and after school, based on student academic data
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leaders to ensure intervention occurs consistently and without interruption to Tier 1 instruction
- Consistently collect and analyze data from Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction
- Enter intervention data into school MTSS data-tracking system
- Based on data, regularly adjust instructional strategies, including, but not limited to: adapting lesson plans, identifying new interventions, and rearranging student groups and the intervention schedule
- Participate in Academic MTSS Team meetings
- Lead safe, structured, supportive small-group instruction by building relationships with students, leveraging systems & routines, and consistently implementing GLA's code of conduct
- Establish relationships with students' families, communicating frequently and partnering in student success
- Communicate frequently with classroom teachers and school leaders regarding students' progress
- Cover classes as needed by providing quality whole-group instruction during teacher absences or vacancies (no more than 60 consecutive calendar days)

- Actively participate in weekly 1:1 coaching and regular professional development (PD), including our three-week summer PD in August

- Bachelor's degree required
- Teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required
- Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Valid IL Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred , but not required
