The Special Education Teacher (LBS1) provides tailored instruction and support to students in resource and self-contained classrooms, collaborating with general education staff and paraprofessionals. The role involves developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), maintaining compliance documentation, and participating in professional development. This position supports elementary and middle school students with diverse academic and behavioral needs in DuPage County, Illinois during the school year.

Position Details:

Position: Special Education Teacher (LBS1)
Location: West Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 35 guaranteed hours/week

Elementary Assignment:
Dates: September 29, 2025 – January 2026
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Caseload: Resource, approximately 8–10 students (Grades K–5)

Middle School Assignment:
Dates: Mid-October 2025 – January 2026
Hours: 7:25 AM – 2:55 PM
Caseload: Self-contained, 5 students with 2 classroom paraprofessionals (Grades 6–8)

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals in resource or self-contained classrooms.

• Collaborate and co-plan with general education staff and paraprofessionals.

• Lead or contribute to IEP development and meetings.

• Adjust curriculum and instructional approaches to meet diverse learner needs.

• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation.

• Attend school/district professional development and training (CPI certification may be required).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.

• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.

• Experience supporting students with varied academic and behavioral needs.
