1:1 Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant

Salary: GLOW Academy is adding to its EC team, and is seeking a professional who is committed to supporting a student in a 1:1 role. This student is non-verbal and needs support 100% of the time. This support includes, but is not limited to, assisting with classroom assignments, providing movement breaks, toileting responsibilities, ensuring student safety throughout the day, etc. This Teacher Assistant position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on practice in supporting the critical work of the exceptional childrens teacher.
Salary: based on years of experience, but at least $16.07 / hour Start Date: August 4, 2025 Hours: 7:45am - 3:30pm (Not to exceed 40 hours a week) Reports To: EC Coordinator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Work individually with this student to reinforce learning of the materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of the individual student, her needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities. Constantly monitor the safety and well-being of this student; monitor student attitudes and encourage self esteem. Toileting responsibilities which include but are not limited to assisting student with efficient use of the toilet, following a bathroom schedule and routines while in the bathroom, maintaining student hygiene, ensure proper hand washing Collaborate with the Exceptional Childrens teacher to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others in order to understand the needs of and provide appropriate services for this student. Perform various clerical duties as needed, maintain records of student progress; make copies; develop instructional materials. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about this and other students within the classroom as is expected of all GLOW staff. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Participate in development and support of the special education program, especially related to this student Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher, EC Coordinator or school administration.
