TITLE: Title I Teacher

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Title I Supervisor, Title I Coordinator and Building Principal

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Elementary Certification

Preferred: Reading Specialist (Pre-K to Adult) or Remedial Reading Authorization or must be willing to complete coursework to obtain Reading Specialist certification; experience teaching at-risk students, excellent composition skills, computer knowledge

SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.

SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately
35% of direct compensation. Harrison County Professional Salary Schedule

EMPLOYMENT: 200 days

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
  1. Assists classroom teachers in the identification of eligible students by participating in grouping/placement meetings; providing assessment results; distributing, collecting and compiling teacher checklist forms for selection of students for Title I services
  2. Delivers Title I reading and math instruction to identified Title I students as described in the county and school Title I project and based on student need
  3. Provides instruction in class or pull-out based on student need and best practices
  4. Diagnoses student needs by administering assessment and evaluation instruments identified in the Title I project
  5. Identifies student strengths and weaknesses based on assessment and evaluation data
  6. Prepares lesson plans for Title I identified students
  7. Effectively implements all required components of the county and school projects
  8. Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, county policy, and Title I regulations. Submits records and reports within the timeline established by the Title I office
  9. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to meet Title students' needs
  10. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers and principals (or designee) to prepare a workable Title I teaching schedule based on students' needs
  1. Assists in transition of students from home to school, from grade to grade, from the Title I program to the classroom, and to new programmatic levels
  2. Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates the school parent involvement program in collaboration with the principal or principal's designee, as described in the law and in the county and school projects.
  3. Participates in parent-teacher conferences in collaboration with classroom teachers
  4. Demonstrates professional growth by participating on a regular basis in staff development on best practices, seminars, workshops, research group, study groups, etc.
  5. Models best practices in appropriate classroom situations
  6. Attends all county and school-level Title I meetings
  7. Develops school-level Title I projects in collaboration with the principal or principal's designee.
  8. Shares with other staff members in the performance of professional duties and works effectively as a member of the educational team
  9. Performs other school related duties as assigned
  10. Enforces school discipline rules and maintains order in a positive and fair manner
  11. Establishes positive interaction with students, parents and school community
  12. Performs all other activities necessary as deemed by the principal, Title I Supervisor or Title I Coordinator
