JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. This is a campus based position, not a remote work opportunity at this time.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  6. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  7. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements.
  8. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  9. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  10. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  11. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  12. Be a positive role model for students, and support the mission of the school district.
  13. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  14. Manage student behavior by the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  15. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  16. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  17. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  18. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  19. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  20. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  21. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  22. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  23. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  24. Regular attendance.
  25. Other duties assigned.


ASSIGNMENTS TO VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION:
  1. Seamlessly integrate District-approved online learning platforms and required software into the planning, delivery, and support of virtual instruction.
  2. Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  3. Utilize a variety of online teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure student understanding
  4. Provide individualized support to students
  5. Create and deliver engaging asynchronous and synchronous learning materials, including video lectures, interactive assignments, and online discussions
  6. Develop and implement effective strategies for student engagement, motivation, and participation in the virtual classroom
  7. Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and understanding
  8. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their assignments and performance
  9. Utilize online grading platforms and learning management systems (LMS) effectively
  10. Support live, in-person testing for students during seasonal events that occur throughout the year
  11. Establish and maintain regular communication with students and parents/guardians regarding student progress, assignments, and any concerns
  12. Provide virtual office hours and respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, phone, or video conferencing
  13. Collaborate with school counselors, special education staff, and other support personnel to meet the individual needs of students
  14. Collaborate with other teachers and curriculum specialists to develop and refine online curriculum and resources
  15. Stay current with best practices in online education and instruction
  16. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the district
  17. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades
  18. Adhere to all school policies and procedures
  19. Participate in virtual staff meetings and school events as required
  20. Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  21. Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines, including professional communication and responsiveness.
  22. Be flexible, responsive, and positive with students, parents, and staff.
  23. Effectively translate CISD Best Practices into the virtual instructional setting.
  24. Regularly attend and apply District-approved professional development in the most up-to-date practices associated with virtual instruction.
  25. Accurately and timely obtain and report required student data, including attendance, grades, etc.
  26. Dress professionally as you would if you were offering instruction to students in a traditional, in-person setting.
  27. Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.
  28. Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  29. Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.
  30. Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.
  31. Attend all required campus and District meetings.
