The individual in this position teaches video production classes, supervises and develops the use of the video studio, and works with the Arts Department Chair to nurture, manage and oversee video production in curricular, extracurricular, and other activities. This position also provides other technical support and oversight to campus-wide performance, athletic, and meeting spaces for the benefit of the school and its collaborative efforts in the community. The role is part-time (40 to 80%, depending on class needs). CORE RESPONSIBILITIES As Video Teacher: T each video production courses in the Upper and/or Middle School, including curriculum design, materials development, assessment, feedback to students, and exhibition of student video products to the community at least once each semester. If assigned, lead and support a group of student advisees providing academic guidance, nurturing social-emotional connection, and facilitating advisory programming in collaboration with a grade-level advisor team. Implement, develop and maintain the Video Studio and other video equipment by administering, maintaining, and managing materials, including lighting, audio, cameras, computers, and other resources.Maintain a schedule for the studio and advise and support faculty in the creation and use of video in service of student learning. Work with performing arts teachers to record, edit and publish performances. Develop and facilitate experiential learning opportunities in support of the work of the Center for Community Engagement. Support Upper and Middle School video clubs. Under the direction of the Arts Department Chair and the Theater Technical Director, provide technical support for internal and external events, curricular performances, extracurricular productions, and other activities and events in the theater and across campus, including after-hours assignments commensurate with those required of other colleagues in the Arts department. Advise and support external groups who rent the facility to ensure that school assets and interests are protected. Participate in the community life of our School by attending student events and activities. Demonstrate regular, predictable, and reliable on-campus attendance. EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred. Experience: At least 5 years of video production experience in an academic or professional setting. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Extensive digital skills, for pre-production, production and post-production video and audio workflows. Strong background in lighting and audio production. . WORK SCHEDULE Days: In general, faculty are scheduled to work on campus Monday through Friday as determined by the academic calendar. Certain work requirements, extracurricular responsibilities, or unplanned academic calendar changes could result in a need for a temporary modification of this schedule, including work on the weekends. As a member of the arts department, this position will be expected to be the main school point of contact for internal and external events on several evenings and weekends during the year. Hours: In general, faculty are expected to work Monday-Friday when school is in session, and to be present for student assemblies and to attend all team, departmental, faculty and other employee meetings. Regular working hours for part-time faculty members are determined by the supervisor and vary depending upon the individual’s specific class schedule and meetings or activities that may be required before or after school. In addition, certain activities, including but not limited to student conferences, field trips, performances, and competitions, may occasionally result in evening and/or weekend hours as determined by a faculty member’s primary and extracurricular position responsibilities.
