Veterans Early Learning Center Substantially Separate Special Education Teacher

The Veterans Early Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to lead a substantially separate classroom serving Kindergarten and First Grade students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and cognitive delays. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood special education, skilled in evidence-based instructional practices, and experienced in working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This teacher will create a nurturing, structured environment that promotes communication, social-emotional development, independence, and academic growth.Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect the needs of students with Autism and cognitive delays, utilizing evidence-based practices (e.g., ABA strategies, structured teaching, visual supports). Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and monitor progress toward IEP goals. Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior analysts) to support student needs. Implement behavior support plans and use proactive classroom management strategies to support a safe and positive learning environment. Foster social and communication skills through structured routines, peer interactions, and guided play. Maintain compliance with all special education documentation, timelines, and procedures. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, strategies, and collaborative goals. Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development as required. Administer special education testing for students as required for initial eligibility and three year re-evaluation meetings as assigned. Working Conditions: Classroom environment designed to support sensory and behavioral needs. Regular collaboration with paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff. May involve physical activity including lifting, transferring, or assisting students as needed. Responsible to the Building Principal and/or Director of PPS.
