George Walton Academy seeks an engaging, energetic Upper School Science teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Reporting to the Science Department Chair and Upper School Division Head, the teacher will work closely with the Science department and Upper School faculty, with an emphasis on collaborating with colleagues to create interdisciplinary and engaging experiences for students.
Responsibilities
Teach six classes and possess the ability and skills to successfully teach science to 9th-12th grade students
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school
Stay current on latest research in science education and employ evidence-based practices to facilitate deep conceptual understanding as well as procedural fluency
Observe/evaluate/assess students' development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growth
Contribute to the cohesion, continuity and rigor of the science department
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels of progress inside and outside of the classroom
Communicate openly, timely and supportively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders regarding student achievement and progress
Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in scientific or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
3+ years of high school (or similar) teaching experience, preferably within independent schools
Experience with a broad range of instructional practices
