Description
Charlotte Latin School has an immediate need for an Upper School Physics Teacher. This role is an integral part of Latin's Upper School faculty. Teachers have the freedom to teach unique, individualized science courses at the Advanced Placement, honors, standard, and elective levels. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 4 sections of Conceptual Physics (or other sciences)
Partner with colleagues to create and update course curriculum
Assess students' academic performance including regular grading
Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours, before and after school
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within field
Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Qualifications
Education and Experience Minimum of a bachelor's degree; master's or doctoral degree in physics or associated area highly preferred
Experience teaching physics is required
Experience teaching biology,chemistry, or other science courses is preferred
Experience teaching a wide variety of course levels is preferred
Experience teaching in an independent school is preferred

Working Conditions and Environment Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.

Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
