Principal Responsibilities:
Exciting opportunity to join our team as a full- time UPK Lead Teacher at Binghamton JCC for 2025-2026 school year! The Assistant Teacher is instrumental in managing the day-to-day operations of our Universal Pre-Kindergarten classroom. We are seeking a proactive and compassionate individual who is dedicated to nurturing a positive learning environment for our students.
The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of our educational program reflecting the goals and values of the school. The teacher will contribute knowledge, insight, ideas, and creativity as a part of the teaching team. Additionally, the assistant teacher brings a love of learning which allows them to introduce children to a supportive, creative learning environment, and is well versed in child development.
Principal Activities:
1. Writing weekly lesson plans in accordance with NYS Prekindergarten Foundation to Common Core and requirements set by the Vestal and Binghamton School District.
2. Preparing and serving daily snacks.
3. Keeping all assigned records for a group of children which shall include but are not limited to attendance, health records, accident and sickness reports, progress reports and assessment reports set by the Binghamton and Vestal School District.
4. Communicating in written and oral English with parents, staff and children.
5. Communicating behavior or incidents to parents and conducting conferences as requested or required.
6. Carrying a child up to 45 pounds in case of emergency and being able to sit on low chairs and on the floor to communicate with children at eye level.
7. Planning and participating in large motor experiences including but not limited to swimming, walking, climbing stairs and running.
8. Supervising children in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments in such a manner to promote the health and safety of the children.
9. Maintaining cleanliness in the areas used by children and reporting any unsafe equipment to supervisors.
10. Supervising assistant teachers, aides and volunteers who work with the group.
11. Meeting New York State DSS Licensing regulations, the operating guidelines in the JCC Operating Procedures Manual, and the standards of quality required by NAEYC.
12. To treat each child with dignity and respect. To greet every child, every day with a smile.
13. Attending a minimum of 30 hours of training within a two-year period of time.
14. Plain and participate in activities designed to include parents in the education and development of their children.
15. Participation and support of all childcare duties as assigned by the Child Care Center Director.
