Position description

The Preuss School at UC San Diego is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income scholars. Teachers will provide services to students with special needs, including planning and implementing individualized programs, collaborating with staff, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Responsibilities include developing instructional plans, monitoring student progress, participating in professional development, and administering standardized tests. Teachers are expected to meet California Standards for the teaching profession, focusing on engaging students, creating effective environments, understanding subject matter, planning and assessing instruction, and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education.

Current Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate) or equivalent from other states.

English Learner certification or equivalent.

At least one year of teaching experience with mild/moderate learning cases.

Experience teaching underserved students.
