Music classes in our Lower School focus on exploring vocal and instrumental music, developing music literacy, and instilling a strong commitment to excellence in each student, all with the education of the whole child in mind.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, and preference will be given to candidates with a masters degree and 3-5 years of experience. Duties include: teaching Pre-K through 4th grade music; the production of a Lower School musical; the inclusion of music in grade level plays; the preparation of music for important community events; and coordinating after school music lessons for students in the Ellis Music Academy. Faculty in our Lower School are expected to participate in the life of the school and hold various duties outside their specific teaching responsibilities. Collaborative and innovative teaching are hallmarks of the school and are critical to success in this position.
The Ellis School is deeply committed to its all-girls environment, which allows each girl to develop into her own unique best self in an atmosphere that both challenges and cherishes each student. Ellis prepares its students to become independent, resilient, intellectually curious young women with the confidence, self-knowledge, and skills to explore and pursue their passions in the world. Ideal candidates will possess a commitment to fulfilling the mission of the School: to prepare, empower, and inspire each and every girl through an excellent education in an all-girls environment. The Ellis School is committed to an inclusive program, and candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.
