Make a difference in the life of a child!  Looking for a caring, warm, and patient person to assist a lead teacher in an elementary classroom and help the teacher reach all students in the classroom. This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be able to assist and lead a classroom as a substitute teacher independently.

Teacher's assistants help teachers manage student behaviors so the class as a whole can run smoothly.  Teacher's assistants also help with recess and lunch duties.  Teacher's assistants often help students who need extra redirection to stay on task in class, or be a friendly face that can help a student re-regulate when classroom expectations exceed their abilities.  Staff will be trained in techniques to support students and will be supported by a supervisor.  Working as a teacher's assistant will give you valuable life skills that can translate into a career as a teacher, educator, or therapist.

This job will also require the candidate to be able to substitute teach on occasion and to manage the class during maternity leave. This will require some skills in classroom management and teaching, and some knowledge of lesson planning as well.

This is a great opportunity for a new teacher or a teacher in training who wants some frontline experience. Experience in a school environment is preferred.
