Career Development Coordinator (CDC)
Purpose
The Career Development Coordinator (CDC) works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, teachers, parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, military, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of career deployment services for students.
Qualifications & Licensure:
1. Bachelor's Degree in a Career & Technical Education Program Area
2. One year within the past five years of industry related experience including career development, work-based learning coordinator, or CTSO advisor
4. Exemplary communication and leadership skills
5. Commitment to continuous quality improvement
6. Completion of 10-Hour Induction for new CDCs sponsored by NCDPI within first year
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Organizing and facilitating the Career Development program at the school and district levels for middle grades (5-8) including classroom instruction as it relates to program goals
2. Arrange career-related activities with academic, industry, local agencies, and community stakeholders to provide work-based learning opportunities for students including field trips, guest speakers, and career shadowing for career exploration and development
3. Coordinating, facilitating, and promoting career development related activities including (but not limited to Students @ Work Week, CTE Month, Career & Trade Day(s), CTSO Events, and local career fairs
4. Market and publicize the Elkin city Schools Career and Technical Education Programs
5. Provide monthly reporting on career development activities and student participation with outcomes
6. Attend regular meetings with the Director of Career & Technical Education, program teacher, career Pathways Coordinator and others as appropriate to meet the goals of the program.
