Responsibilities
Are you a compassionate Teacher with a heart to educate children and teens in a trauma-informed behavioral health setting? Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral is looking for you! We are currently recruiting for a Full-time Teacher. Position Summary The Teacher will be responsible for providing education in a safe environment while maintaining age and developmentally appropriate educational standards. The Teacher will participate as an integral member of the treatment team and in developing the continuing care plan regarding educational placement upon discharge. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teach smaller classes of between 8- students with additional staff support Interact therapeutically with the residents in one-to-one, community, group and classroom situations. Reacts therapeutically in a crisis. Prepare and implement sequential curricula for all students based upon the student’s past records and/or the Individual Education Plan (IEP) developed by the student’s IEP Team. Instruct students in core academic subjects using a variety of techniques to reinforce learning and to meet students’ varying needs and interests, while establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students. Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in education. Master’s degree preferred Experience : Minimum of two (2) years in Student or Special Education preferred. Prefer previous experience working with children and adolescents with special educational needs. Age-Specific Competencies : Licensure/Certification : Current, State of South Carolina Teaching Certificate in the following area: Secondary Education. CPR and CPI Certification required. HIPAA : Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record. May only access medical record of assigned patients.
