The Department of Exceptional Education is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist . Caseloads include preschool and school aged students. Applicants should be knowledgeable about physical therapy needs for students with disabilities. Expertise in assessment, intervention, and documentation as it relates to school-based physical therapy is essential. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, administrators as well as other professionals.

Title: Teacher, Physical Therapist NP
Under general supervision, Plans and administers medically prescribed curriculum-based physical therapy for students in order to afford students an opportunity to progress in the general and/or functional curriculum.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Provides physical therapy to students both directly and through consultation
• Evaluates students and plans physical therapy programs based on Individualized Education Plans (IEP) developed for students
• Trains staff and teachers on position and equipment use
• Consults and collaborates with teachers and parents concerning programs and equipment
• Plans and monitors positioning programs for use in the classroom
• Maintains student files and all records of student progress
• Attends professional learning sessions and/or required conferences
• Participates in IEP meetings and acts as a liaison between school personnel and the medical community
• Submits computerized billing for Medicaid reimbursement
• Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in Physical Therapy education required.
• Minimum one year of experience in general physical therapy practice required.
• Valid physical therapy license issued by the State of Georgia required.
