A full-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Kansas City, MO, serving primarily elementary students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. This contract role spans the current school year and offers an opportunity to provide specialized support for visually impaired students in an inclusive educational setting.
Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive services for visually impaired students, including Braille instruction and support. In addition to working with elementary students, the role involves providing consultative services to middle and high school students as needed. Collaboration with one existing staff member ensures mentorship and professional development opportunities throughout the contract period.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
Experience working with K-5 students, with the ability to extend consultative services at the middle and high school levels
Proficiency in Braille instruction and adaptive technology used for visually impaired learners
Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with staff, students, and families
Ability to provide individualized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students
