We’re looking for an impact-driven, in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to bring meaningful change to students in Suffolk, VA . We’re a startup with big ideas and even bigger hearts. Position Details: Location: In-person, serving students in Suffolk County, VA Schedule: Full-time hours for the duration of the 25-26 school year Caseload: School-based (public school district), grades PreK-12 Start/End Date: August 4, 2025 - May 27, 2026 Responsibilities: Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in school settings Evaluate students for eligibility under IDEA and State Board rules Conduct screenings and evaluations Support Braille literacy Maintain compliance with all documentation requirements Develop and implement IEPs, Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), and Learning Media Assessments (LMAs) Progress monitoring of IEP goals Adapt instructional materials and incorporate assistive technology to meet individual student needs Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and school teams Provide support and consultation to staff to ensure access to the general education curriculum Preference will be given to candidates also certified in Orientation & Mobility Familiarity with school-based Medicaid billing Requirements Active Virginia certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (or eligibility for licensure – we will reimburse for cross-licensing if you are moving to the Suffolk, VA area soon!) Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting Experience with IEP development, FVAs, and LMAs Knowledge of assistive technologies and instructional adaptations Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills Organized, flexible, and deeply committed to educational equity Ability to drive to schools in the Suffolk County, VA regional area and provide in-person TVI services Benefits What We Offer: Competitive compensation Licensing support and reimbursement Travel perks for eligible roles Access to professional development and continuing education Supportive, mission-driven team environment And more!
