A contract opportunity is available for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to serve high school students in a self-contained classroom environment. This role focuses on delivering specialized education tailored to students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs, ensuring they receive comprehensive and accessible instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique communication and academic requirements.
Deliver direct instruction in core subjects using differentiated teaching methods, visual aids, and accessible materials.
Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) alongside other communication modalities to facilitate full participation and engagement within the classroom.
Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to support learning outcomes effectively.
Collaborate with support staff, families, and related service providers to create a cohesive educational experience.
Qualifications:
Illinois certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher is required.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf education best practices.
Experience working with high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing, especially in self-contained settings.
Ability to design and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
