Seeking an experienced Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to support K-12 students in a Chicago-based school. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY), providing tailored instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to enhance their academic and social development. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction designed to meet the unique learning needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Utilize appropriate communication methods, including sign language and assistive technology, to facilitate effective learning. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to promote an inclusive educational environment. Provide advocacy and support to ensure accessibility within the school setting. Desired Qualifications: Certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field. Proven experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication techniques. Strong understanding of auditory and visual learning strategies. Ability to design and implement IEPs and conduct progress assessments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and student engagement. Location: Chicago, Illinois This contract role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational experience of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a supportive K-12 environment.
