Position: Teacher of the Deaf Compensation: $70 per hour Boston Speech Therapy is seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to educate and support students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment. This position requires a commitment to providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for deaf and hard of hearing students. Utilize effective teaching strategies and methodologies to enhance student learning. Support the development of communication skills, including sign language and auditory skills. Collaborate with families, audiologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support. Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and modify approaches as needed. Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence. Potentially work with students from PreK age up to 22 years of age. 17-20 per caseload.
Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education of the Deaf or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid state certification in Teaching the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of auditory-verbal techniques. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
