General Description : Position Overview: The Teacher Leader is a critical role dedicated to elevating instructional quality, fostering professional growth among educators, and driving continuous improvement in student achievement. This role requires a seasoned educator with a deep commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, who can serve as a coach and collaborative leader within the school. This is a stipend position that would add additional responsibilities to a full-time (1.0) equivalent teacher.
Compensation : $2,581.25 Annual Stipend (pro-rated based upon the proportion of the term of service)
Minimum Required Qualifications : Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of effective instructional practices. Proven experience in teacher leadership roles, such as team leader, department chair, instructional coach, or similar positions. A track record of successfully implementing and sustaining school improvement initiatives.
Skills and Abilities: Instructional Expertise: Extensive knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Data Analysis: Strong ability to analyze and interpret student performance data to drive instructional decisions and interventions. Communication Skills: Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively. Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents. Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in the use of educational technology tools and platforms for instruction, assessment, and professional development. Leadership and Initiative: Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Problem-Solving: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation. Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to changing educational environments and diverse classroom settings.
Key Responsibilities: Instructional Leadership: Exemplary Teaching: Model effective instructional practices by teaching demonstration lessons and co-teaching with colleagues to illustrate best practices. Observation and Feedback: Conduct regular classroom observations, providing constructive feedback and actionable recommendations to teachers to enhance their instructional methods. Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement. Use data to inform instructional strategies and interventions, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed. Instructional Resources: Identify, develop, and share high-quality instructional resources, including lesson plans, assessment tools, and multimedia content. Including a commitment to support district-approved curriculum, textbooks, digital platforms, and other instructional resources.
Professional Development: Needs Assessment: Conduct needs assessments to determine professional development priorities and design relevant training programs. Program Design: Plan, organize, and deliver comprehensive professional development sessions, tailored to the specific needs of the school's faculty. Ongoing Support: Provide sustained professional development support through coaching cycles, peer observations, and follow-up sessions, ensuring that new practices are effectively integrated into classroom instruction.
Collaboration: Team Leadership: Facilitate and lead grade-level or subject-area team meetings, fostering a collaborative environment where teachers can share strategies, discuss student work, and plan instruction together. Communication: Act as an intermediary between school administration and teaching staff, ensuring clear, consistent communication of school policies, initiatives, and expectations. PLC Facilitation: Guide the formation and operation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), promoting collaborative inquiry and shared responsibility for student learning.
Curriculum and Instruction: Curriculum Alignment: Work with teachers and building/district administration to ensure that the curriculum is aligned with state standards, school goals, and best instructional practices. Instructional Strategies: Support teachers in developing and implementing differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with special needs and English language learners. Assessment Development: Assist in the creation and refinement of formative and summative assessments that accurately measure student learning and inform instructional practices.
School Improvement: Strategic Planning: Actively participate in the development and implementation of the school improvement plan, contributing to goals and action steps that enhance student achievement and school performance. Initiative Development: Lead or support the development and execution of school-wide and district-wide initiatives aimed at improving instructional practices, school culture, and student engagement. Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and professional development initiatives, preparing reports and presentations for school leadership and stakeholders.
Work Environment: The Teacher Leader will primarily operate within a school environment, engaging with teachers, students, and administrators daily.
