An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students in a dynamic educational setting in Silver Spring, MD. This role involves delivering specialized instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments throughout the contract school year. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility, Braille, assistive technology, and other adaptive skills Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to integrate services effectively Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly Offer training and support to school staff to enhance understanding of visual impairments and accessibility needs Maintain detailed documentation and comply with all regulatory and district requirements Qualifications & Desired Experience: Valid teaching certification in the field of visual impairment or related specialty Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to adapt instructional methods to individual student needs Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment Location: Silver Spring, MD K-12 School Setting Job Duration: Contract School Year (CSY) This position provides the chance to make a meaningful impact on students learning and independence.
