Position Details: Duration: August 18, 2025, through May 30, 2026 Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (40 hours per week) Setting: K-12 public school environment Caseload: Includes students with varying visual impairments; elementary level involvement is more intensive, including support for a legally blind student requiring braille instruction Collaboration: Regular coordination with Orientation & Mobility specialists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists to support student needs Itinerant: Travel between schools within the designated area is required Responsibilities: Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments Implement braille literacy and assistive technologies where applicable Develop and modify educational materials to accommodate student needs Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance student outcomes Monitor student progress and maintain detailed documentation Provide training and support to staff and families regarding visual impairment strategies Qualifications: Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with a K-12 visual impairment caseload Ability to travel itinerantly within the assigned region Strong collaboration and communication skills Familiarity with braille instruction and assistive technology use preferred This position offers the opportunity to impact students educational journeys by delivering specialized support that addresses the unique challenges of visual impairments.
