A school district in Lake Wales, FL, is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time, itinerant position serves students across seven schools within the K-12 range. The role requires on-site presence and offers a contract for the entire school year. Key Responsibilities: Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments. Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure accessible learning environments. Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly. Facilitate use of assistive technology and other resources that promote independence. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments. Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility strategies. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the district.
