A K-12 school district in Oakland, CA is seeking a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) and Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized support to students with visual impairments. This full-time, contract position for the 2025-2026 school year offers an opportunity to work directly with students within a dynamic educational environment. Part-time candidates who are able to share caseload responsibilities will also be considered. Key Responsibilities: Deliver itinerant services to visually impaired students across the district, supporting their orientation and mobility skills as well as academic needs Develop individualized instruction plans aligned with IEPs to promote independence and access to the curriculum Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate student success Conduct assessments and monitor student progress related to vision-related learning goals Provide consultative support and resources to school teams to address visual impairment accommodations Qualifications: Valid California credentials/licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments in educational settings Ability to work itinerantly and travel within the district to serve multiple school sites Commitment to in-person work to directly engage with students and school personnel Strong collaboration and communication skills Location: Oakland, California (school district) This position is full-time but part-time candidates who can manage half of the caseload will be considered to ensure comprehensive student coverage.
