An opportunity is available for a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) and Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve a K-12 school district. This contract position, based in Hayward, CA, spans the 25/26 school year and involves itinerant work within the district. The role demands in-person service delivery to support students with visual impairments across various school settings. Key Responsibilities: Provide specialized instruction and mobility training tailored to students with visual impairments. Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Assess student needs and adjust strategies to ensure accessibility and independence in their educational environment. Support students in navigating school facilities safely and independently. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families, educators, and related service providers. Qualifications: Valid certification/license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). Certification or licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS). Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in an itinerant role within the district. Commitment to providing in-person services. Work Schedule and Location: Full-time position available with the option for part-time candidates to split caseload responsibilities. Position duration covers the full 2025-2026 school year. Role requires in-person attendance at various school sites throughout the district.
